INTERAGENCY SERVICES AND COORDINATION
The BRIC is involved in many interagency coordination and collaboration
projects throughout the area. These include but are not limited to such
efforts as the provision of mental health services to students with emotional/behavioral
disorders via Day Treatment ( DTP ) and Children’s Therapeutic Support
Services ( CTSS formerly know as FCSS ). In addition the BRIC administers
annual applications for funding, secures contracts with local Collaboratives
and County Social Service Agencies and Coordinates services with a variety
of Human Service providers including Stellher Human Services and Upper
Mississippi Mental Health Center.
One of the more popular BRIC interagency projects is the well established
School/Home Interventionist(s) ( S/HI ) program. BRIC has applied annually
for base funding for these services ( 52% ) and works closely with Stellher
Human Services and the local Districts where Interventionists are assigned.
The primary goal of the program is to meet the needs of “at risk”
students in the general education population who may be at risk of failure
and possible referral for special education evaluation. The program works
to prevent the need for high cost special education services by meeting
the needs of more students in the general education classroom.
BRIC also hosts and facilitates the various Interagency Early Intervention
Committees ( IEIC ) across the Cooperative. These IEICs work directly
with a variety of human service, public health and head start agencies
in the provision of collaborative services to young children with disabilities
and their families ages birth through six years of age.
